Has the company that makes Barleygreen been taken over?
Yes. Recently, YH International, the company that markets Barleygreen, was bought by the Japanese company JPD (Japan Pharmaceutical Development). More accurately, YH International and its immediate "Parent" Company, Green Foods, Inc. were both awarded to JPD in a long court battle over ownership. I don’t know any of the particulars of the court case, and its not my business to know.
Will Barleygreen still be available?
In my opinion, No. JPD is discontinuing YH International, the network marketing arm of Green Foods, and will apparently also soon discontinue the production and sale of Barleygreen and its related products. This is my strong impression from a recent phone conversation I had with the executives of Green Foods, Inc. and Nikken, Inc. JPD has given the distribution rights for all its newly-acquired products, including Barleygreen, to a network marketing company called Nikken, Inc.
Barleygreen will be continued for a relatively short time I believe, then it will be replaced by a Barley powder product called Jade GreenZymes, which is already distributed by Nikken. Nikken claims that Jade GreenZymes is the same Barley powder that is in Barleygreen, but it is produced with their special "Pi water," a water they say is vastly superior to regular water because it is "energized" by adding an iron compound to it and apparently also "magnetizing" it? - or something like that – a method for which there is very little, if any, hard science that can be investigated, documented or reproduced. The supposed "improved" changes are made by adding the iron compound in "miniscule quantities" that become (conveniently) “undetectable?” so the water molecule is "changed" and "energized" and develops some sort of "memory," according to the information available.
This is similar to the way homeopathy claims to work, a system that I do NOT endorse.
Does this "Pi system" really produce "improved, energized" water?
In my opinion, and in the opinion of many other scientists, the answer is NO. Frankly, it sounds like a lot of New Age, Eastern "medicine" mumbo-jumbo, hocus-pocus to me. For more information, see the following websites and decide for yourself.

What is known about the Nikken Company?
Nikken endorses New Age Products and the New Age philosophy as openly revealed on their home page which shows a picture of a person meditating in the yoga position. Meditation IS “New Age” and the opposite of Christian Prayer. “New Age” meditation “communicates” with the “god within” ourselves, a totally pagan philosophy, whereas Prayer is communicating with the true God of heaven – the God of the Bible. Are there electrical and magnetic fields normally present in the body?
The body naturally produces an electrical/magnetic field, because the body is actually "electric" - since there is a charge on the surface of every cell. It is this charge that, among other things, facilitates the flow of ions (the electrolytes - sodium, potassium, chloride, etc.) across the cell membrane. The normal heartbeat is produced electrically and spontaneously in the body from a specialized "node" in the heart. The charge on a bone in a human being is normally neutral until that bone is broken. Immediately, the electrical field around the broken bone, produced BY the body itself, becomes negative - until the bone heals. Then the bone becomes electrically neutral again.
These delicate and minutely precise electrical/magnetic fields are perfectly generated by a healthy body in the EXACT, SPECIFIC TINY amounts determined by God, our Creator, in His magnificent design of the human body.
Dr. Robert O. Becker, Retired Professor of Medicine at Upstate Medical Center, and Director of Orthopedic Surgery at the Veteran’s Hospital, both institutions in Syracuse, New York, was one of the first to investigate the electrical/magnetic fields in the body. In the mid-1970's, I, personally, was a Research Investigator in one of the first major, multi-institutional medical center studies on these types of effects on the body, specifically on the effects of Electrical Stimulation in Bone Healing. The Lead Investigator in these studies was Carl Brighton, M.D., Ph.D., a close friend of mine, who was Professor and Chairman of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, for a number of years, I was a member of the Bioelectrical Repair and Growth Society, an organization composed of M.D.s and Ph.D.s involved in the study of electrical stimulation of healing and regeneration, particularly in bone, and I learned a great deal about the effects of manipulation of the electrical and the magnetic fields of the body.
Is it dangerous to manipulate the electrical and magnetic fields normally present in our body?
Our body is designed by God to heal itself, without the application of electricity, magnets, drugs or any other chemicals or devices that can all cause harm to the body. When the body is healthy, it will generate EXACTLY the right electrical/magnetic fields that God has designed.
When the body is NOT healthy, rather than introduce “Man’s” idea of what the electrical/magnetic fields “should be,” we must focus on getting the body well, so the body then can do its OWN job of generating the proper, delicate, precise electrical/magnetic fields itself, as God has designed it to do. We must focus on the root cause of the problem – getting the body well – INSTEAD of “treating” symptoms. “Treating” symptoms is the same folly of orthodox medicine. The only difference is that the orthodox doctors “treat” the symptoms with DRUGS rather than by the manipulation of the electrical/magnetic fields of the body!
But this is NOT God’s way, and “Man” CANNOT Improve on God’s way! And anything that is NOT God’s way can potentially cause harm to the body He has designed.
The human body is very complex, but the maintenance of it is very simple. All one needs to do to PREVENT disease, or to REVERSE disease when it occurs, is to follow the Ten Natural Steps of God's Health Plan. These Ten Steps are completely SAFE and have NO detrimental side effects. They use ONLY the things that God has created – in their natural form – the way God created them.
When arrogant "man" starts tinkering with the brilliant and complex intricate mechanisms that God has designed and created in our body, we are in dangerous territory. It only causes trouble. We may have temporary ("Quick-fix") relief of our symptoms, but those methods will NEVER solve the underlying cause of ANY disease.
DRUGS - including street drugs and doctor-prescribed drugs, ALSO give immediate relief of symptoms. But they NEVER can solve the underlying disease problem and they NEVER can REVERSE the disease. And they ALL have harmful side-effects, most of which may not be immediately apparent, but over time they continue to work to destroy the body.
The natural, normal electrical and magnetic fields of the body were created by God, Himself, in His infinite wisdom. But scientists believe that THEY ("man") can "improve" on what God has created. "Man" has decided to CHANGE the electrical and/or magnetic fields in the body to make people "feel better" quickly - a "Quick Fix." But, "You CAN'T Improve on God!" The ONLY way to truly Get Well, is the slow way – which is to STOP doing the things that are making you sick and START doing the natural things that will make you well. This requires a major CHANGE in one’s lifestyle and a major CHANGE in one’s diet.
But since many people don’t want to change – they want to keep on living and eating the way they always have – they are looking for something FAST – a “Quick Fix.”
This manipulation of the body’s electrical/magnetic fields is clearly potentially dangerous, just as DRUGS (both street drugs and doctor-prescribed drugs) are ALL dangerous - and just as manipulation of the hormonal balance of the body (by estrogens in women and testosterone in men - and supposedly "anti-aging" hormones in both men and women) is extremely dangerous.
Drugs often make a person FEEL better temporarily, because they relieve symptoms, NOT the underlying CAUSE of the disease. But ALL of these drugs have side effects, and many of them actually CAUSE other serious diseases, including Cancer! Hormones, both male and female, and anti-aging hormones (even in tiny amounts) have ALSO been shown to CAUSE CANCER and/or INCREASE the GROWTH of a CANCER that may already be present!
It has been shown that manipulating the electrical and magnetic fields of the body can also CAUSE Cancer and other serious diseases and disorders. There are studies showing that those living near high tension power lines (altering the electrical field of the body) have a higher incidence of mental disturbances, suicide, and leukemia, especially in children as reported by Robert O. Becker, M.D., in his book, Cross Currents. The use of an electric blanket by pregnant women has been shown to increase significantly the incidence of miscarriage, as documented in studies published by Dr. Nancy Wertheimer of the University of Colorado.
Robert O. Becker, M.D., in his books, The Body Electric and Cross Currents, reveals a very real association of electrical and magnetic fields with the growth of Cancer. The U.S. military has now developed weapons, using electromagnetic fields, to paralyze, maim, mind control, and kill our enemies.
Because the research on, and control of, the production of these electrical and magnetic fields are under the control of the U.S. government and powerful Big Business, most of the research is biased in favor of the military/industrial complex, telling the public that these artificially-produced electromagnetic fields are not dangerous. Even the Rothschilds, the most powerful family in the world (and possibly also the most diabolic), are involved with the promotion of magnets and magnetic therapy. So research that reveals their dangerous hazards can easily be suppressed.
But Dr. Becker, and other brave researchers who have exposed the detrimental effects of these electromagnetic fields on individuals, AND on the general population, have paid a dear price for doing so. They have been victims of harassment by the Government, Media, and Big Business, and have received vicious attacks on their research and reputation.
Will you endorse Nikken and their products?
No. Because Nikken endorses the New Age “Eastern Medicine” philosophy and New Age products, which are the opposite of God's Way to Natural Health, and because many of the products they promote are either useless or potentially dangerous, in my opinion. I cannot, in good conscience, endorse ANYTHING they sell, nor do I want to be associated with Nikken in ANY way. New Age "medicine" is NOT of God. It claims to address Mind, Body and Spirit, by "looking within" oneself.
But there is NO power "within us" to do the right thing. The ONLY place we can find the power to do the right thing is from “outside” of us - from Jesus Christ. Because New Age does NOT acknowledge Jesus, except to say that He is just another New Age "Avatar," a divine being among MANY "divine" beings, then that philosophy is antagonistic to Jesus Christ. It denies that Jesus Christ is the One and ONLY true God. And Jesus said, “He that is not with Me, is AGAINST Me.” Matthew 12:30
But isn’t New Age “Eastern” Medicine (addressing Mind, Body, and Spirit) better than the Western Medicine that promotes Drugs and Surgery?
The foundation, philosophy, and “treatments” of both Eastern and Western Medicine are WRONG, because none of those methods address the underlying CAUSE of the disease. BOTH Eastern and Western “systems” of medicine ONLY treat symptoms. Both types of “treatments” entice the sick person into finding a “Quick Fix” rather than addressing the REAL causes of the disease. And neither method of “treatment” is connected to God who is our Creator, and the One who promises to “heal ALL” our diseases (Psalm 103:3), but ONLY if we follow God’s way (Deuteronomy 7:11-15) and NOT “man’s” ways.
Will you still have Barleygreen available on your website at www.drday.com?
As of December 1, 2007, I will no longer have Barleygreen available on my website, because in order to do so I would have to become a member of the Nikken organization, something I will NOT do. For a time, the original Barleygreen may be available from some websites (other than mine) on the Internet. After that, you may, for a time, be able to find the original Barleygreen under the brand name Green Magma, the name under which Barleygreen is sold in health food stores, or possibly on the Internet.
But, within 6 months, or maybe less, both Barleygreen and Green Magma will probably disappear from the marketplace. In its place, Nikken will most likely exclusively promote their present product, Jade GreenZymes, the Barley product made with the “manipulated water,” something I CANNOT endorse. If Green Magma persists longer than that period of time, be careful, because Nikken may have incorporated the "manipulated water" into that product, as well.
It is a sad day to see the original Barleygreen "put to death" by a New Age company, Nikken, a company that does not understand TRUE HEALING at all. Nikken's New Age products treat SYMPTOMS, rather than the underlying CAUSE of the disease. Orthodox Medicine ALSO treats SYMPTOMS, rather than addressing the underlying CAUSE of the disease. Neither New Age nor Orthodox Medicine can successfully treat the REAL CAUSES of diseases.
Can those who still sell Barleygreen on their websites or any other way, continue to use your name, image, likeness or endorsement on Barleygreen products?
No. Please see my letter to Green Foods, Inc. about this matter. It is now illegal for anyone to continue to use my name (Dr. Lorraine Day or Lorraine Day, M.D.), or my image, likeness or endorsement of Barleygreen or related products.
Do you Endorse any Other type of Barley Powder?
No, I do NOT endorse - OR use - ANY other type of Barley Powder. I am well aware of ALL the products available and I do NOT endorse any of them, for very good reasons.
What CAUSES Disease?
NO disease is caused by a “lack” of drug-taking. For example, headaches are NOT caused by a deficiency of Aspirin! (See my DVD “Diseases DON’T Just Happen!” at www.drday.com) And NO disease is caused by a “lack” of the proper electrical or magnetic field on, or in, the body. Therefore, NEITHER of these “treatments” can REVERSE ANY disease! It is true that there may be abnormal electrical/magnetic fields present in a sick person, but these are the RESULT of their disease - NOT the cause of their disease. When one obeys ALL the Ten Natural Steps of Health on my DVDs, CDs, and in my books, and gets the body well by natural methods, THEN the electrical/magnetic fields of the body will become normal as God created them, - - and the pH of the body will ALSO become normal - - and the hormones will ALSO become balanced. The previous imbalances in these parameters, as just stated, are the RESULT of the disease - NOT the CAUSE of the disease.
We GIVE ourselves diseases, including Cancer, one day at a time, by the way we live and the way we eat. In order to PREVENT and REVERSE those diseases, we must CHANGE the way we are living and eating. In fact, we must CHANGE every aspect of our life in order to GET WELL completely.
Aren’t Temporary "Quick Fixes" of ANY Value?
Both Orthodox Medicine and New Age Medicine (of which Nikken is a part) offer a "Quick Fix" to the individual and the public - "Use our drugs and modalities, and feel better FAST!" - when the ONLY way to truly be well is to STOP living and eating the way that HARMS the body, and START living and eating the way that will progressively rebuild one's immune system, so the wonderful immune system that God has given us will GET US WELL, just as it is designed to do.
Is Barleygreen essential to getting well from Cancer or Other Diseases?
No. Barleygreen is NOT essential to getting well from Cancer or Any other disease. In its original form, it was just another nutritious food, NOT a "magic bullet." When one eats the prescribed vegan diet along with the fresh home-made juicing schedule, both detailed on my DVDs, CDs, and in my books, you will be getting more than adequate nutrition - even WITHOUT the use of Barleygreen.
And REMEMBER, the proper nutrition is ONLY ONE Step in the Ten Step Natural Health Plan. One must follow ALL Ten Steps with 100% commitment in order to get well.
